 In 1938, at the age of 81, shortly before his death, Freud recorded a brief statement for the BBC about his life and career - the only voice recording he ever made. By this time his cancer of the jaw was inoperable and incurable, making speech difficult and extremely painful. The video footage you see here is a compilation from various home movies taken by the Freud family between 1930 and 1939.
