Working with Patients with Psychosis: an Integrative Approach
Speaker: Dr Dianne Campbell Lefevre
CPD-accredited

Dr Lefevre is a Fellow of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and a BAP-trained psychoanalytic psychotherapist. In her talk to the Inner City Centre she argued that dealing effectively with psychotic patients requires more than one approach. She believes that it is necessary to offer prescribed medication (in as low a dose as possible) but emphasises the necessity of having access to a healthy part of the personality so that some dialogue can be established with the patient.

Slavery and Psychological Trauma: What is the Matter with Boys?
Speaker: Barbara Fletchman Smith
CPD-accredited

Barbara Fletchman Smith is a member of the Inner City Centre.
She is the author of Mental Slavery: Psychoanalytical Studies of Caribbean People London: Karnac Books. 2000

In her book Barbara examines the complex effects of the experience of slavery and its impact on generations of Caribbean people, whether they live in the West Indies or elsewhere. She brings many subtle insights to a fascinating subject, drawing on her detailed knowledge of many Caribbean cultures, both past and present.
