About ICC

ICC Members

The ICC currently has 50 members, working in our rooms in the City and in their own consulting rooms all over London. Our members are drawn from most of the major London psychotherapy trainings within the psychoanalytic or London Jungian traditions. We consider this pluralism to be one of our great strengths as an organisation.

Between us we come from a wide variety of nationalities and backgrounds and include writers, actors and artists as well as many with previous careers in education, psychology, medicine and social work, creating a rich matrix of knowledge and experience.

Training

All ICC members have undergone an intensive advanced clinical training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. There are also Jungian analysts, psychoanalysts and group analysts within the membership. Some have extensive experience in particular fields such as work with refugees and victims of torture, chronic illness, eating disorders, short-term work, couples and groups. Several can offer therapy in languages other than English.

Clinical Governance

The clinical standards are governed by principles of good practice and ethical guidelines.

All ICC members are required to undertake Continuing Professional Development as a condition of their registration body.

Becoming a Member of the Inner City Centre.

We recruit members periodically where there are geographical gaps in our service. However anyone can apply to become a member at any time, provided they fulfil the criteria for membership.

Applicants must be fully qualified psychoanalytic or Jungian analytic psychotherapists and be registered with either the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) or the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis (CPJA) section of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Applicants should contact the Membership Secretary and provide a CV and the names of two referees, who should be able to comment on clinical skills. The next stage is a formal interview with two senior members of ICC and sometimes a second interview. The final decision on admission is taken by Council.

New Members sign a Membership Agreement and are expected to maintain professional indemnity insurance and registration with BPC or UKCP. There is an annual subscription of £150, payable in September. Members undertake to maintain a proportion of low-fee clients in their ICC caseload, to join ICC sub-committees and attend our regular Professional Development events.
